Hollow tube crossbars are hydraulically swaged into pre-punched holes in the bearing bars to make type SLS swage locked stainless grating. This type of construction provides a secure bearing bar/crossbar intersection and products are available with bearing bar spacings ranging from 19/16” (1-3/16”) to 7/16” on center.

The swaged cross bars sit slightly below the top surface of the grating making this product very popular for “close mesh”, ADA conforming applications. 11 spaces and 7 spaces are ideal for vault covers or entrance mats located in a public way.

Product HIGH INERTNESS

stainless steel gratings are manufactured using the same process as press-welded gratings. They are made from 1.4301 (V2A) grade stainless steel and pickled by total immersion. The passive coating produced in this way is resistant to water, steam, atmospheric humidity, and food acidifiers as well as to weak organic and inorganic acids. Stainless steel gratings have high inertness for this reason.

Stainless steel gratings require no additional corrosion protection. The chromium contained in the stainless steel forms an invisible oxide layer on the surface. It is this layer that makes the stainless steel grating so incredibly resistant to corrosion. That’s why stainless steel gratings are used wherever high corrosion and hygienic requirements apply.
